The Matt Poss Band have sons, brothers, nephews, cousins and friends who currently serve in the military.

Through an ongoing relationship with Armed Forces Entertainment, the band have been on multiple tours to entertain troops, at big bases and small F.O.B.'s, on foreign soil and at home. These tours have allowed the band the opportunity to witness the daily existence of our troops, in peaceful environments as well as war zones. The tours have also allowed the band to spend significant time with troops working in harsh environments to preserve our freedoms. Those freedoms, and our way of life, are hard won.

Hats off to our troops. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please be safe, and come home soon.

Okay, on to the fun stuff. Troops - this page is dedicated to you. You deserve a way to pat yourself on the back! Click Here to create a new email, then attach a photo of yourself, and include any information regarding your service in the message, as well as an optional dedication to family or friends back home. We will then post them at the bottom of this page, at our earliest opportunity. This is also open to anyone to submit information about someone from their family who is currently serving in the military, or is a veteran.

Incidentally, Matt Poss Band is quite possibly the only band in history who have hitched a 4-hour ride on a USAF C-17 cargo jet from Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan in the dark of night, carrying guitars and wearing ill-fitting flak vests and helmets while half-drunk on Russian Beer. (Number 9's from Manas, for those in the know!)

'Stan Tour 2009

Rob, Matt Poss Band drummer, has a passion for making movies. To the right of this paragraph is a music video he threw together about the Matt Poss Band 'Stan Tour of 2009. The music in the video is an acoustic demo of the song The Man Who Went Up The Mountain, which was written on the plane returning from the tour. The song is about how being a soldier and participating in a war can change a man.

Mac, Matt Poss Band guitarist, took a ton of pictures and video footage during the tour, and upon returning put together a web journal about the tour.  You can find that by clicking HERE.

What an experience. Hats off to our troops for living that life for months and years at a time.

Hi Matt, my name is Hank Doedtman from Effingham and am serving in Afghanistan. Here's a couple pictures of my guncrew and our truck, the "Three Bricks Shy." Hope you don't mind that we named it after your song, but it pretty much sums up our crew. We're all three "three bricks shy" so that describes us well. My driver's name is Kylie Dawkins from Louisville, and I'm the gunner. We're both really big fans of yours. Our truck commander is Dan Welker from northern Illinois and we're introducing your music to him. I read that you're coming to Afghanistan in April and I sure hope you can make it to Camp Phoenix, you got a ton of fans here. Well, your songs are awesome and thanks for all the support.

Snowman:  Well, where do I start? I'm from Corbin but my family lives in Russell Springs now so i guess that's home. I'm in the US Air Force and I am a mechanic. I work on construction and special purpose, heavy equipment. I'm stationed at Ramstein Air Base right now but I've been to many other places. I've hiked in the Swiss Alps, white water rafted in Slovenia, swam in the Meditternean Sea, been to the top of Hitlers Eagles Nest in Austria, layed my eyes on the Mona Lisa in Paris, visited Gen. Patton's grave, and driven convoys on the most dangerous road in the world (MSR Tampa in Iraq). That's just the start of it. My nickname is "Country Ass Will," and I was recently asked if I work on a farm just by the way I dress. My call sign is "Snowman" because my convoy commander said that I sound like the truck driver from "Smokey and the Bandit." R.I.P. Jerry Reed. I love country music, my family, my truck, God, and I have the utmost respect for anyone who has ever put themselves in harms way defending our country. I'm in Kuwait now doing convoys into Iraq with the Army. It's my second time for convoys and my third tour in OIF/OEF. I have an amazing girlfriend who will one day be my wife and have my kids. I love you more than anything Steph. If you want to know more about me, just ask.

Hey Matt,

I seen on your website that you have a "for the troops" section and i was wanting to send ya this pic of my brother, also a fan of yours now too; he is Germany still awaiting to have back surgery, the Chinook he was flying kinda crashed, he lost 2 of his friends in the crash and 6 of them survived (total 8 passengers) all while flying over bagdad .We were all hoping he would make it home for the forth of july, but the doctors wont clear him to fly until he has the surgery. Anyways, here is a picture of him...his name is Sgt. George Goicochea (go ahead and try saying it...lol). His friends and him loved the song Rolling Thunder a lot, makes them remember why they are doing what they are.
